April 2026:

4/2026:
Your road committee is relieved that the winter did not eat up the limited funds we have in the bank  for the usual winter snow removal costs. We paid $7,585.50 for plowing this season and $1,930.00 to sweep the chip seal gravel off.  Additionally, ‘thank you’  to all those who have paid more than the $600 annual fee to help toward paying off the cost of the road chip sealing. We have a ways to go to get it paid in full. For those that have not paid, it’s never too late to join your neighbors in seeing our road is fairly shared and supported by all. It’s just the right thing to do.

Paying through our newer Square payment service is becoming more popular. You can pay any amount you want at any time. Some property owners are choosing to pay quarterly, bi-annually or annually - whatever works for you!

Our next project is creating a shoulder on the road in those areas where a sharp drop is causing the asphalt to break off.  We certainly don’t want to lose what we have worked so hard to preserve. We are looking into recycled asphalt that should be more stable than some of the past materials used along the first stretch from McCaffery. Any other ideas are welcome.

The installation of the fiber optic lines along the road appear to be complete. If you are aware of any damage to the road, please let us know. We are already aware of one area just before the mailboxes at the fork of Echo Chalet and East Village Dr. The contractor has been contacted and has said it would be repaired  when conditions allowed it to be done properly.  Before you sign up on fiber service, let’s make sure they have done those repairs.

Our current account sits at $2,260.62. The remaining debt on the chip sealing is about $20,000.  If every neighbor sent in the $600 road fee early  we could retire the debt and work toward the shoulder repair and start on building a ‘rainy day reserve’. For those that want to continue the culture of generosity  in our neighborhood, the extra contributions are greatly appreciated. Past “super contributors” are listed below.

We are looking to schedule a live road meeting during the first week of July at the Swan Center. Updates in the next letter.

Your devoted Echo Chalet Road Committee,

Rick Tams, Julie Devine & Scott Hollinger
