Echo Chalet Road Update: Chip Seal Funding & Community News

Need Funding to Complete Chip Seal Project

First off, thank you to all those who have paid to keep the road maintained. Our road account is now at $46,838.  Right now, we are well short of funds to complete the chip seal project scheduled for this summer. The options are: 1- finding someone willing to fund the project and be paid back with interest over the next couple years, 2- finding a handful of 'angels' to cover the balance, or 3- convincing those that have not paid (list below of those who have not responded) to at least cover part of their deficit.  It's a significant deficit to have up to 15 neighbors not contributing. At $300/yr (old fee), that's $4,500/ year over at least 10-20 years, totaling from $45,000-90,000, less funds for maintaining the road.

If you haven’t already paid your annual fee, please do so here. We greatly appreciate your support.

Updates and Our New Website

Updates will be mailed and also posted on our new website: www.EchoChaletRoad.org when it gets up and running. We are working out the details of taking this site live, but it is a bigger job than we originally thought. In the meantime, please email your current email address and phone number to info@EchoChaletRoad.org  so we can begin to build that database.  Eventually, we would like to stop having to snail mail.  Your email address won't be shared.

If you have questions, comments, or ideas for our road, please send them to:  info@EchoChaletRoad.org. (Note, the previous newsletter gave an incomplete email address - info@echochalet.org is wrong - missing the word "Road" in the address ... You just can't hire good volunteer help!)

A List of Portable Fire Pumps

We are also working on a list of those that have portable fire pumps. In a pinch, it would be good to have someone close by to help in an emergency until the fire department can get there. With dead-end roads, those beyond may not be able to fight from the other end if trucks can't get through. Pumps hauled via boat may make the difference. If you have a portable fire pump, please let us know.

Remember to put the plug in your boat before putting it in the lake.

Reminders

Please remind visitors, contractors, and neighbors that our road is great for a slow drive through the forest to their destination, and look out for everyone else walking or riding in our beautiful neighborhood.

We are looking to have an in-person road gathering at the Swan River Hall. Stay tuned.

Happy Spring!
